Preschools usually work around a formal curriculum and trained teachers - making them a little more expensive! Nursery schools are usually a more relaxed learning environment and more flexible enrolment terms. They are also cheaper and vary greatly.

What age is a preschooler? Ages up to 4 is considered preschooler with toddlers are 1 - 3 year old bracket. Basically 4-year-old are not 'toddling' around any more and so are no longer toddlers!

What does preschool mean? A preschool, or nursery school, is a pre-primary school, or play school for early childhood education. Preschool is for children before they begin compulsory education at primary school.

Tall Trees

Oldford House, Lullington Ln, Frome BA11 2NF, UK – 01373 465691

Tall Trees is an exceptional nursery! My 2 boys have thrived there and have been lovingly held and gently prepared for school. My eldest now in Reception transitioned so smoothly into school and I believe this was due in large part to Tall Trees and the wonderful staff there. My second is off to school in September and he's definitely ready, again for the same reason. The days are very rich at Tall Trees with lots of exciting opportunities for the pre-schoolers such as forest school and watching chicks hatch, plenty of opportunities for play and exploration as well as learning! I will be sending my daughter there without question when the time comes.

A wonderful nursery for both of my children from 6 months to 4 years. They have absolutely loved it - the wonderful food, the brilliant outside space, and the nurturing care. I couldn't recommend it more.

I'm still friends with people I met there five years on which is a real testament to the quality of life I experience there. A true community of good people.

Enigma Pottery School of Ceramics

15 Vicarage St, Frome BA11 1PX, UK – 07791 699770

I've been attending classes with Jenny of Enigma Pottery for around a year now. I just can't get enough! Usually a painter I decided to revisit this skill which is something enjoyed many years ago as an art student. Jenny's tuition is very detailed but easy to follow, she has unending patience with those of us that repeatedly ask the same questions over and over. Not only are the classes enjoyable from a point of view of what you learn but there is always a lovely friendly atmosphere in the class making me feel as if I am not just learning a new skill but making new friends and contacts too. I would thoroughly recommend Jenny's classes, it doesn't matter if you are no good, it makes you feel good!
